Single Tier, Two Tier, Multi Tier what's Best for You?

There are three major types of tiered affiliate programs. Not all affiliate programs will offer all three types. Typically you'll find single level tiers and 2 level tiers in pay per lead programs. Multi tier programs are generally only available through pay per sale programs.

Single Tier

When a program has a single tier, that single tier or level is you. Commissions are earned by you when your account completes an action leading to a conversion.

Two Tier

When a program has a two tier, the second tier or level is all the partners you have referred to the program. This tier can be as large as you can make it. Commissions are earned by you when your account completes an action leading to a conversion AND also when anyone in your tier completes an action that leads to a conversion. Most programs will list what their 2 nd tier rate is. For example, a lead program may offer $5.00 per lead and the 2 nd tier rate is $0.25. This means if you generate a lead, you'll earn $5.00 for the lead. If someone in your tier generates a lead, you'll earn $0.25. A partner that has a large tier, can do quite well with a 2 nd tier program.

Multi Tier

This is of this styled program as a large growing pyramid where you are at the top.

In theory, you would earn a share of the commissions from everyone within your pyramid. Although there are some legitimate programs that offer these structures, they are few and far between. It is recommended that you avoid these types of programs.
